Temporary Wait
Since it was announced yesterday that the NBA hasn't finished it's 'new' collective bargaining agreement, the Cavs won't officially sign Hughes, Z, and Marshall today. Not a huge deal, but the good news here is that the Cavs have been spending under the belief that the salary cap will be between $48-49 million. Given the signings of the 3 players mentioned above, we should have about $3.5 million left to spend.
Also to note is that the Clips and Cavs have been talkin trades. If we can dish Gooden and still have the $3.5..boy that would be nice. Not sure if we would still sign Sarunas given we have Snow, but this allows us to pick up some solid bench players..aka Tractor. We shall see as Jaric is visiting us today so hopefully that goes well and wants to play with a championship contender.

The problem the LeCavs have is they need a back-up center. Marshal and Varajao can not be back-up centers. It is not a natural position for them and we lose interior strength big time. Plus, the LeCavs would not have a shot blocker, not that Z intimidates anybody, but he is better than the previous mentioned. Also, do we really want Marshal or Andy to start? I do not. Andy maybe, but not Marshal... he is a career bench guy. Also, Tractor is not going to come back for less than what he made last year... even for LeBron. He was paid 1.4MM last year and would need at least that to return, but probably more. Now if we were to trade Drew and Sasha for Jaric and Kaman/Wilcox, that would be great. We get our guard and a big man who will be fierce on the glass and is athletic. We'll see!
Even if (yes, if) these Cavs sneak into the playoffs next year, they're still nowhere close to being a contender. I wouldn't have them making it past the 2nd round.
Where is LBJ's Pippen? He has no sidekick to ease the pressure. There is no shooter to knock down 3's and keep the D honest.
I don't see this team going very far...
