So Life After..

..is really just not as fun.  It was mad fun getting to feel like you were a kid again by watching the Cavs in the playoffs.  This time there was no Mark Price or Brad Daugherty, but LeBron filled that void no problem.  I believed in our team as did the whole Cavs nation, but in the end we just didn't want it.  And by "the end," I am referring to Game 6 and by "didn't want it," I am referring to rebounding the ball.

It was a grand few weeks of playoff action for our Cavaliers as they stole the NBA spotlight.  Even if people weren't rooting for us, they knew we had grown up and arrived in the East.  It was truly amazing to see all the jocking of LeBron when the Cavs were winning and even more amazing to see the bashing of the Cavs when we lost.  Gotta love when ESPiN's only goal is to create drama.

Personally, I had a great time cheering on my team.   After seeing Game 6 vs the Wiz in DC, I figured I would ride my good luck so I ended up hopping an early, early flight to CLE for Game 6 vs the Pistons..but we all know that didn't go exactly as planned.  Quick note though..it was the biggest sporting ticket in CLE since the 97 World Series (which I won't comment on).   Crap tickets were selling for hundreds while tix near the floor were going for $3000-$5000.  Damn..

Anyways..the offseason swirl has begun.  Z now might be traded, Bron won't leave, and Dan truly appreciates our support.  It still sucks we won't see any NBA action for a while, but I am guessing this could be another fun offseason.

Thanks to everyone in the Cavs organization for a great season..

I like the idea of moving Z and keeping Gooden.  You might be putting yourself in a situation where Varejao would start at center, but in the offense we ran most of the year, which had our center setting screens at the top corner of the key, seems to work better with andy than with big z.  Plus, if we're going to move to a motion offense, Z just doesn't have the offensive awareness to run in that system.  Problem is that Andy is going to have a lot of match-up problems at the 5.  As I thought, once the pistons had a gameplan for him, he was not very effective in games 6 and 7.

If he puts some muscle up, our starting frontcourt could present a lot of matchup problems for other guys.  LBJ, Drew and Andy would be a big, quick frontcourt that a lot of slower teams would have a lot of problems.  With those three plus hughes on the court, you could run an extremely effective motion similar to what the wizards or suns do.  You might be able to package Z w/ Snow or Damon and get back a decent point guard in return.  There are a lot of teams in the market for an offensive minded 7-footer.

That being said... here are my guys that you have to keep on the roster... LBJ, Hughes, Varejao, Donyell, Damon, Sasha and Gooden/Z (one of the two).  Donyell because he gives you a different look at the 4 when he gets hot.  Damon for a couple reasons... he's never played for a team for more than a year and change, I'd like to see how he settles in (maybe he'll get that sweet touch back), I also think he is well-liked by his teammates (LBJ in particular) and brings a good attitude to the locker room.  I also like Gooden and Damon because they never complained, even when MIke Brown wouldn't call a play for Drew and reduced his minutes drastically from last year and Damon sat out the whole Wash. series.  Oh, and Sasha, because he has an upside and plays solid backup to LBJ and Larry. (he could be the replacement for Fli

I'd like to add/revise that last comment a little.  I think you need to keep Snow unless you acquire a solid PG through trade.  If we get a PG of the future from the draft, you gotta keep Snow here because he'll be such a great teacher.  I also think that you let Damon and Sasha split time backing up LBJ and Larry, #1 because that's Damon's natural position, and #2 because you want to keep Larry's minutes down to prevent some other ridiculous 3 month stint on the bench.  Then, you bring in the pg of the future and let him backup Snow at the point and get him minor minutes early and often.  But I guess we'll have to wait and see what kind of offseason moves we make befor we speculate about rotations.
