Is this mic on?

Am I alive?

I am indeed so let's recap the past week.  The Indians are awesome, the Cavs are on a roll, LeBron is redonkulous, and OSU got new jerseys. Ok..not bad.

I guess the first order of business is the new jerseys.  There is a lot of crazyness going on over at Buckeye Commentary regarding our decision to look like the team in which Bobby Carpertner tried to kill.  People are upset, but it's hard to stop a atheltic powerhouse from introducing a new revene stream. I guess a ticket hike in price wasn't cuttin it.  Anyways..

The Cavs..are hot.  Hotness.   I mean so hot the LeBron Meter is looking fantabulous in our favor.  The team is playing like a team.  Hughes is back and startin to feel the groove.  And we are feelin it.  LeBron has been out of control (especially vs NJ).  I am sorry Jaz-Z, but our boy put a hurtin on your winning streak and your team.  LeBron got high above the rim...I mean real high.  Personally, I was even more amazed at his drive to the hoop with three guys touching the ball and somehow it drops.  He is nuts and movin up the respect column for the MVP.

The Tribe is feelin it.  5 in a row.  Pronk es en fuego.  Plus he has a new candy bar out.  No luck on finding a pic of so hopefully someone can come through.  Wickman is the league leader in saves and isn't lookin back.  Coco Crisp is injured..umm.  Jason Johnson looked good in his debut.  Not bad at all.  Plus..I ordered the MLB package so it's going to be a fun season.

That's it.  It's a good time to be a fan.

Come on now...it was Robert Reynolds, not Bobby Carpenter (I assume you're referring to the choking of Jim Sorgi a couple years back)

My deepest apologies.  You are indeed correct in that it was Robert Reynolds.  I will never again confuse our neanderthal linebackers.

I'm glad to hear Mr. LeBlog is back.  I was getting a little worried.  You covered three areas of concern here in the northeast.  I have heard the grumblings about the OSU jerseys and I have to say it is ridiculous.  The new jerseys look good and are not much different than previous.  OSU fans just like to hear themselves complain.  I guess it's all Ohio fans because its what we do best, in regards to our sports teams.

As for the Cavaliers... we are sweeeeeeeeeetttt!  LBJ did it again last night in an amzaing game.  The crowd in NO/OC was really good.  Joe Tait kept talking about how loud and into the game the fans were.  I think that really pumped our guys up and LBJ definately fed off the energy.  That is four straight games where LBJ has led the team for three quarters and then taken over in the 4th.  The jumper to end it was classic.  For those that missed the end (and didn't see Sportscenter) the Cavs ran their normal spread (Cavs going L to R across your radio dial).  Marshall inbounded and ran to the top corner, Andy downscreened for LBJ who ran to the three point arc to get the ball.  Larry and Flip were on thr right and bottom corner, respectively.  LBJ got the ball and Mason had to respect his drive so LBJ faked the drive, rose up and drained it.  It was Leawesome.  The view ESPN showed from the behind the opposit hoops was a sweet angle.  The MVP talk is getting really heated now and fans are going nuts.  With the Tribe off to a good start and the draft around the corner... Cleveland is rockin!

This might start a whole new discussion, but I haven't seen us debate this so I am throwing out my point of view.

Is it the best for LeBron to get the MVP right now? I agree with all of you that he deserves it, he has come on so strong the past two months, and proven that he is deserving. His stats, his clutch shooting, and his overall leadership bringing a otherwise average team to the forbidden land. But, is this what he needs. I would rather see **cough** Kobe, or **cough** Nash win it, and just put that much more fuel under LeBrons legs to get back to the playoffs, win the NBA Championship, and prove to everyone what we already know, he is the real deal.

I think it would be amazing, and he desevres it, but would not getting it this year, make LeBron (if possible at all) any better?

One more topic of discussion: I have noticed something over the past few months, and I think it is something worth discussing. LeBron will take the big shot when the game is tied, but when they are losing he passes the ball off. I am a huge proponent that passing to the open man is not wrong, but sometimes I just wonder, LeBron in LeBron, no one is going to stop his drive at the end of the game, so take the shot when your losing. This is your team Bron Bron.

Just worth discussing! Go Cavaliers, and just a note from an insider. If you live locally and have a chance to get tickets for the Fan Appreciation night: GO. There are some crazy prizes, and hundreds of them being given out that night. I know last year they gave out signed McGrady, and Yao jerseys, as well as over 500,000 worth of prizes, so this year will be just as redic.

Can't wait for playoffs. LeGood Day to LeAll!

Just a couple tidbits:

For someone I just said wont take the shot at the end of the game if losing (this kinda takes any validity away from what I mentioned in my earlier post but,)

LeBron James hit a field goal in the final second of play to give the Cavaliers a 103-101 win over the Hornets. James has made 19 of 29 field-goal attempts this season in the last two minutes of a one-possession game (66 percent). No other player with at least 25 attempts has made more than half of them. Derek Fisher ranks second at 50 percent (13-for-26).

and on the MVP race:

Chris Broussard writes:

Regular readers of this blog know I've long been touting Steve Nash as this year's MVP. But for the first time since Kobe came back to earth in February, I'm having doubts.

LeBron James has been so good that, in my mind, the two are now neck and neck for the award.

The amazing thing is that James doesn't seem to be getting much consideration. Kobe and Dwyane Wade seem to be viewed as Nash's main competitors, but in my mind, it's strictly a two-man race.

My view has become similar to last season's when I would have felt comfortable with either Nash or Shaq winning MVP. But honestly, the more I look at what LeBron's done, the more I think he should get it.

Don't be jealous that we want to make more money.  You are either a captalist or a socialist/communist.  Making money, and then USING THAT MONEY WISELY (ie, to fund our other sports teams so that we can be tops in everything) is the way to do it (as opposed to making money and then hording it so that the football team only gets better).

Capitalism necessitates revenue-generation at the expense of tradition?  I was always taught that additional factors beyond mere profit-generation could also be considered in the capitalist model.

But perhaps I am wrong, and instead of criticizing Ohio State we should be denouncing all those socialists in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and State College, Pennsylvania who simply refuse to reounce their silly traditions in the name of the almighty dollar.

I do truly hope that your women's rugby team flourishes, however.  Go Reds!

Unfortunately for you Gaffbag, OSU does not have a tradition like Penn State or Alabama when it comes to jerseys.  We have consistently changed our jerseys every few years.  So what you equate with tradition (which one could keep, in order to make money) is just wrong when it comes to OSU.

It's not unfortunate for me that Ohio State has no tradition - it's unfortunate for Ohio State students and alumni.

Or is your point that by altering their uniforms once more Ohio State ironically demonstrates that it does have tradition - a tradition of exploiting their fans for profit?

I guess I could see that.  So by changing their jerseys for the second time in as many years the Buckeyes are merely pereptuating their own special contribution to college football tradition - perhaps analagous to A&M fans standing for entire games to represent the 12th man or Georgia playing between the hedges at Sanford Stadium... that is indeed a most fascinating proposition which I had not considered.

I never said OSU has no tradition- stop using the tricks of a third candidate politician who ruined our country for eight years :)  What I said is that they have no tradition with respect to jerseys, ala PSU or Bama.

And you know what?  It's not exploiting if fans buy the jerseys.  Everyone can make that choice to spend their money.  No one holds a gun to peoples' heads and say "Buy OSU Stuff."  No, people do it because they want to.

Listen Gaff and Paul... the jersey stuff is crap and makes no difference to anybody.  Buy one if you want and if you don't want to then just forget it.  Let's talk MVP and the King.
